We're still kicking!

So much has happened in the last month, that it's almost hard to believe it's only been a month. i have one week of school left, and as much as I look forward to the end of the year...it always seems to bring along it's own set of complications. This year has been no different. Between the state budget (or the lack there of) and the seniors, this has been one interesting end to the school year. I can't wait for graduation. But enough about that.

Addison had her 15 month appt. a few weeks ago, and weighed in at 20.2 lbs. She is 29.75 inches long. She is walking, running, and starting to talk more. I was a bit worried at first because she just didn't start talking like Jackson had. And she has done everything before Jackson....so I didn't get it. But everyone, including the Dr., tells me not to worry. She is finally saying mommy and daddy with some regularity. She is using some signs, and between her signs and her voice, she is definitely getting her point across. Lately she has been wanting to sit on the potty. She follows me in, puts the potty seat on the big potty, vehemently says "pee-pee" over and over again. She does this until you take off her diaper and sit her on the seat. The first time she did this, she tried to push and farted! Let me tell you...it was music to my ears! I can't wait until she is potty trained, but there is no pressure. Back to Addison's routine...she sits there and has to have a piece of TP so she can wipe. She puts it in the potty then is ready to get down and tries to flush. One day, maybe in the near future she will be ready. But I will encourage all the "potty play" she wants. We have finally been able to put pigtails in Addison's hair! I love it. It's absolutely adorable. Her most recent favorite game is getting on the couch and trying to plow off at full speed.

Jackson's no longer a toddler. He is a full-fledged preschooler, full of his own opinions and time tables. He loves to talk on the phone, and we are learning to "skype" which has been fun. Jackson has a great time "talking" to grandma and grandpa. He is a big help...when he wants to be. My once wonderful eater, has turned into your picky eater. Sometimes he only wants to eat frozen waffles...not hot, but cold. He likes his pasta cold. Bath water can't be too hot either...Reading books is a great time filler here. He also loves to color with his markers and paint. One night, we had a baby sitter over and I was giving instructions. Jackson had been coloring at the table, when it suddenly got quiet...you know the quiet...he had colored his face with his markers. He had a serious look on his face, and there were colors everywhere. That picture is stuck on my other camera. Dave still has to download those pictures.

Last weekend we went and visited our friends and their new baby Zoe. She was 7 weeks old. Jackson and Addison had a great time meeting their friend. Jackson even held her. He was gentle and talked so quietly to her. It was so neat to see.

In funny news....Dave and I joined karate. I have a friend who I work with who had been bugging me to go. We went and surprisingly to me, I enjoyed it. I'm still getting comfortable with things, but we're having a good time. Pictures will have to happen tonight because miss Addison has woken up from her nap, which means that computer time is up!

Happy Mother's Day!!

Happy Mother's Day!!! All I wanted for Mother's day was to sleep in. Not only did I get that, but Addison only woke up once during the night...so that means I got to sleep during the night and sleep in. Jackson painted a little box at school and they filled it with hugs and kisses. I also got a necklace with both of their birthstones on it. Beautful!

Pre-school gifts are the cutest and the ones that tickle my heart. Jackson's teacher also asked each kid questions about mom and then printed them up....so here is Jackson's "Happy Mother's Day" questionairre, his answers are in italics.

2. What does she do? Goes to work.

4. What does daddy call mom? calls her Kim.

6. What is her favorite food? she eats food.
7. What is her favorite movie? I don't know.
8. How many brothers and sisters does she have? Just one sister, my sister.

10. What do you want to tell her for Mother's Day? Happy Birthday.

I'm always amazed at my children. I am so blessed and honored to be their mom. I learn new things from them every day! I love them more than anything I ever thought was possible. Everyone always says there is nothing like being a mom, and it's true! It's all consuming, it's all rewarding...and even when things get frustrating, it's always filled with love! Yay for mom's!!!!

First trip out on the boat....

Since we hit triple digits, Dave has been itching to go out on the boat. He and Jackson have been working on the boat to get it clean and ready. Our plan was to go out today as a family this afternoon....and as the best laid plans go, things changed. I am sick, and just didn't have the energy to go out. So Dave and Jackson took the boat out on the river after dinner...I don't have the full report yet, as they are on their way home, but here are a few pics from the first trip out for the summer.

Addison has started experimenting with her facial expressions. This seems to be one of her favorite ones lately. She uses it all the time. It's her, "I'm happy, mad, don't want to do what you think I should do look."
