Backsides

I don't know what it is, but I love the pictures of my kiddos backs when they are looking at something. Perhaps it is because for one moment, they are both engaged in something, the same thing. Or maybe it is because it's fun to suppose what they are thinking. We all have our filters, and I know they have them too...so what do they see? How do they see it? Is it mesmerizing? Interesting? Are they loving it, or secretly wishing we could move onto the next animal? These are just a few of my questions as I look at pictures like these...pictures of backsides...

Wonder of the rhino...I'll bet Jackson wanted to get up close and personal, probably try to climb up and over so he can jump down.

Addison looks like she is wanting to climb over, but is more reserved, not totally sure and glad she has a barrier between her and the animals.

Now the giraffes don't scare Addison, but Jackson looks a little more reserved....wonder why!

We used to wonder what was going through their minds before they could talk...and we're still wondering. To see things through the eyes of a child is truly a gift, and I love that they give me the opportunity to slow down and look.

Zoo animals

Mother's day weekend was a big one! We went to visit my sister and her family, and also got to celebrate our nephew's graduation from college! Saturday, Dave and his dad went golfing, so we went to the zoo. I don't know who was the bigger animals! But we had a great time. I've never been to a zoo where the animals were so close to you. It was cool to see how big they really are!

Everyone listened really well, but we could have gone an hour earlier and it would have made the end of the trip a bit more bearable (and it's not even summer yet). We had lunch on the lawn outside of one of the eating places which worked out perfect. Uncle Ed showed up with a smoothie and I don't think he got to drink much of it. It's mornings like this when I wish we lived closer to zoos and other cool places....we definitely would go a lot!

We definitely will go back. They also had elephants and lots of other animals. Some we missed because they were sleeping and hiding. I overheard someone else say that first thing in the morning was the best time to come because all the animals were out and active then. So next time, it's up and at 'em early!

Recital rocked!!!

Recital ROCKED!!! Both kiddos smiled huge and had a great time both performing and cheering each other on. That feeling that people talk about where their heart just swells huge and they are bursting with pride...yup! I felt it. Twice. Talk about an awesome weekend. Here are a few (ok, a lot) pictures, and I may end up putting up a few more because I LOVE them. Jackson's was a bit hard to photograph because he wasn't interested in the before/after pics, and also because he is moving the entire time. But the ones I got, I love!
