Travis's Graduation

Last weekend, my brother Travis graduated from UNR!!! We are sooo proud of him. Dave ended up having to go to a work convention, so I headed to Reno by myself. We had decided not to take the kids because of the short time and travel...and really, they wouldn't sit during the ceremony anyways.

Friday morning started out just fine, I was running a little late...but these days, that seems to be normal. I hit the road and about 15 minutes into the trip, my car started to shake. I called Dave, who was already at the airport (2 hours away)...left a message and called my dad. Said it could be a tire, but wasn't sure. Dave called back and said it was probably the road. I was just praying I could make it to the airport. I drove a while longer, and heard a thump and saw a huge piece of tire hit the passenger side of my car. I pulled over, and the entire tread was off my tire in the rear. Lovely. Called Dave and my dad. Called the tow company and waited. Plan was, I was going to have the car towed back to town, then get my MIL car and get back on the road....

While waiting, a trucker stopped...that's just scary. Luckily, he kept his distance and didn't come over. Then a Highway Patrolman stopped and waited with me until the tow truck came. We made it back to town, Stefany picked me up and we ran up to the house for the other car...but no keys. Luckily they had fixed the tires fast...finally, back on the road. Didn't make my initial flight, but caught one a few hours later. And did you know, if you miss your flight and can still show up at the airport within 2 hours, they won't charge you?? That was nice.

We had a great weekend. Dinner Friday night, up early for graduation on Saturday. We then headed to Lake Tahoe for the afternoon. Trav hung out with some friends, and from there we had dinner at a fabulous restaurant called Fire and Ice.

Going to the River

Mother's day weekend we headed out to the river for the first time this season. The weather was beautiful!!! We had a small snafu...which is par for the course for our first time out each year. The people who serviced the boat, didn't screw on one of the valves that keeps the water out of the engine. Luckily, Dave caught it in time, and was able to get them back on, let the water drain and we were off again.

The kids love to go to the "islands" so they can splash and play. They found rocks, and just enjoyed the water. We had a fabulous time, and though we won't be doing much water skiing or wake boarding this summer due to Dave's knee, we will definitely be out and enjoying the water!

Dave and Jackson...he loves to drive!!! They make a good team.

All ready to go!

Enjoying the water.

Jackson showing us how his "monster friends" have already taught him how to swim.

Warming up with sand on their cheeks. A good end to a great day!

A Rare Moment.

I find that with my two kids, they are usually going fast, very fast, in two opposite directions. Even when we try to get a picture of the two of them together, one is usually looking completely in another direction. And why shouldn't they? One of them has surely seen something much more interesting that looking into the camera...But this morning, I was able to finally capture them long enough for a picture. It made my day!!!

Jackson and Addison...my favorite!!!!
