Strike!!!!

Back in September, we headed off for our first ever bowling adventure. We never know how these adventures are going to go. It had been a good 20 years since I had bowled, and probably about 15 for Dave. We were both a little rusty. But for me, it worked out to my advantage. I was never a good bowler, my mantra was always "I bowl so others feel good about their skills." That should tell you a little about my skill level. No matter, the first game I did great (for me!!). Jackson and Addison enjoyed it, but we stayed a little too long. We had to pre-pay for an amount of time, so now we know that 1 hour would be best.

Mom won!!!
Addie got a little competitive and didn't want to smile.
After the bowling, we had a few more minutes to spare before our movie so we played a few arcade games. All in all, lessons learned by parents but we had a good time. It was definitely a neat place. Jackson and Addie want to go back because they have laser tag and a high rope course you can do. That has been filed and saved for another day!
Proof that Addie was having a good time!

Beach bumming, 2017

Going to the beach has become a weekend that Jackson, Addie and I look forward to. One day I hope it truly is relaxing... Dave has a hard time with all the uncontrollable factors when we are at the beach. But he handles it! He took the kiddos out boogie boarding more times than he could count this past summer. Which was awesome because though I do enjoy boogie boarding, I don't consider myself a strong enough swimmer to take the kids out into the water except to jump the waves.
In addition to boogie boarding, there is always ample time to dig for sand crabs.
Addie loved tumbling on the beach this year which was fun to watch!
Since my side of the family is there, including my parents, Dave and I took advantage of this opportunity and snuck out for a date. Life has been so crazy the past 6 months that it was a welcome opportunity to eat a fantastic meal, watch the sun set over the ocean and just talk. Until next summer!!

USS Midway

Our last hurrah of the summer was the beginning of August. We always meet up with my extended side of the family at the beach. It has turned into a weekend both kiddos look forward to and enjoy. We usually try to do a little something else also, so this trip we went aboard the USS Midway. We went in the AM when it first opened, which was definitely a good thing to do because it got a bit warm towards lunch time. It wasn't as big as it looked from the outside, but we weren't allowed to go everywhere, so maybe it was.
Jackson thought the planes were pretty neat. Addie, so so.
They had different planes open for you to sit in.
And the buttons! There were lots of different areas where you could "control" the ship.
All in all, I'm glad we went. But the kids were super excited to head to the beach after.
