At the end of July, we headed to the beach. Normally we go at the same time as all of my family, but this year because of schedules and school start dates we went before everyone else and tried out a different spot. It was amazing. We got to the hotel a little early, so we had to wait a bit for our room. It was absolutely worth the wait. Once checked in, we changed and headed down to the beach where they ran straight into the water. The hotel we stayed at had it's own beach area which meant that everyone was able to relax a little more.
They had a few different restaurants on site, plus it was within walking distance of downtown so there was plenty of options for us to choose from. It was the perfect mix of "nice, date night out" and "family environment."
The sand at the beach was golden. Dave and the kiddos learned to surf which turned out to be a huge success. With nothing but their brief try at Great Wolf Lodge on the surf boards, we weren't too sure how it was going to go. Surprisingly, everyone got up on their boards. And, everyone enjoyed it.
After surfing, looking for sand crabs and more body surfing we headed to dinner. Jackson loves sea food. Well, he loves shellfish. Dave convinced him to try an oyster.
He didn't think the oysters were any good, so those have been crossed off his list least for now.
Addie and I enjoyed the fire pit outside our room quite a bit as we watched the sun rise and set. There's nothing like an ocean sunset.
